Love

Love is the single most precious commodity. More valuable than the air I breathe or the water I drink. Without Love, I am nothing.

First, I thank God for his love. God's love has sustained me my entire life. God's love is food to my soul. I walk in God's love. I reflect God's love by living my life in his honor.

Second, I thank my husband for his love. His love fills my heart with joy each day. Even if we argue I argue knowing my heart is safe in his hands. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't remember the first time I met him. I think of it as "magic" and I often refer to my husband as my "magic man."

And then there's a child's love. The love that gives you the strength to do the impossible. Whether this child is grown or not this love motivates. This love invigorates. This love is sheer joy. And... this love is passed through generations.

So as I sit in my quiet time and consider all the love I have in my life, my thoughts return to God.

Every day people die from lack of love - broken hearts.

Surround yourself in God's love and "your cup runneth over."

Psalm 23:5

Where Was Adam?

Adam? Where were you whilst Eve strolled the Garden?

Adam? Where were you during Eve's encounter?

Was she not placed under your authority?

Were you not to look after her?

Alone and vulnerable to a power higher than herself...

Adam! Where were you!?

Had you not the power to say no?

Whomsoever carries the burden of inequity throughout eternity?

Adam?

You Didn't Love Me Enough!

You didn't love me enough to stick to the plan...

You had your own plan.

You didn't love me enough to follow the map...

Everything was there... tools for life... tools to win.

Every curve, every pit... marked with an "x" -

The road to success -

You had your own map...

Destined for strife and struggle.

You didn't love me enough not to break my heart...

You didn't care -

You didn't love me enough to forgive me...

As I am made in God's image - not in his omnipotence...

I guess I could say - you just didn't love me... Period.

But I believe you do... It just wasn't enough.

Tongues

As defined by the church, a language used to communicate with God - referenced in the bible several times.

I am the grandkid of a "PK." My grandmother was a preacher's kid. My father's mother shared stories with me about our family's connection with the church and my family's religious beliefs.

I remember Sundays in church. I looked forward to listening to the choir and my candy. Every Sunday grandma would let me have lifesavers candy and chiclets gum to keep me from getting fidgety during the sermon. But when the time came that the ladies of the church would stand up and start shouting and passing out... Whoa! I'd get in trouble for laughing so hard. What was wrong with them I'd ask my grandmother? I'd never seen my grandma act in such a way. Well my grandma's explanation never resonated with me.

I've always communicated with God in English! Simple as that. However, yesterday was a learning experience for me. Why? Because I was surrounded by wailing women! And it was amazing! Yes they were speaking in tongues. No, I had no clue as to what was being said. But the atmosphere was electric! I went thinking there would be a group of women and that we would hold hands and pray together for the well being of our families. Nope!

As soon as I entered the room my body felt warm and secure. I immediately lifted my arms and tears started to flow and I prayed!!! Boy, did I pray. This feeling was not new to me but the intensity was overwhelming. I had never felt this feeling this strong!

Once I stepped back and took in my environment I thought of the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem - I thought of images of Muslims kneeling face down in reverence to God. I felt humbled and blessed. I felt God's presence.

Later, as I ate lunch with my auntie I shared my experience. She smiled and said, "that's the Holy Spirit baby..."

My takeaway from this experience is that speaking in tongues is an individual's personal choice. I have been filled with the Holy Spirit throughout my life without speaking in tongues but now... I GET IT!
